What happened instead was that instead of embracing the advent of using mobile apps for hailing a cab, taxi companies started fighting it as if that was the culprit. France is passing weird laws that artificially make the experience bad for customers using taxi hailing apps. That is completely beyond me, perhaps I am too much of a nerd to understand that.
