Facebook Introduced a New Tool Called Interest List
Last Thursday (08 March), Facebook introduced a new tool called Interest List which will be rolled out to Facebook’s entire 850 million users in the coming weeks. It will be another major expansion after the New Facebook Timeline. Most of these new tools are designed by combining the ideas behind popular features offered by other social networks.
As described in the Facebook Newsroom, “Interest lists can help you turn Facebook into your own personalized newspaper, with special sections—or feeds—for topics that matter to you. You can find traditional news sections like Business, Sports and Style or get much more personalized—like Tech News, NBA Players, and Art Critics.”
The concept of Interest List tool is based on “List” and “Circle” features of Twitter and Google+ respectively. An Interest list can contain pages and people of the same category. For example, the Interest List Entertainment may include Hollywood celebrities, pages for music companies and TV shows, etc.
It is possible that some of the users may get this tool early and others have to wait for some time before they can claim benefits of this interesting feature. Once the service starts, you will see the “Add Interests” icon in the upper left-hand corner of the News feed.
